This was a relay station and rest stop for Stagecoach travelers and fresh horses. It's located in the ghost town of Steins, in the South West corner of New Mexico.
AVATAR BY PJ............... i've been so bad about commenting on your photos. believe me when i say i look at them all. feel free to NOT comment on mine. Please Visit My Gallery
What a gorgeous shot, Doug. The colors are superb. It's just me but I think I would have liked the shot a little more if you had cropped out the stagecoach on the right and had the building not centered. But you're the expert on composition and I'm the pupil averaging about a D+.
I'm curious. These shots of your trip seem to be in some very obscure locations. If your vehicle broke down, is there civilization right around the corner or would you have been forced to eat Blue to survive?
Doug, I for one am glad you left the old stagecoach in this image, very good oldie from a long forgotton time. The stories this relay station could tell, I would love to hear them. :) Marvelous postwork. Tigs♥ =^..^=
Beautiful photo! The conspicuous lack of green in the greenery sure makes the place look dry. Achieving a lighter blue sky near to the building sets off its profile in a dramatic way. I'm not so sure about those white spokes on the wagon wheels. Maybe they grab the eye too much by their bright freshly painted appearance, as though not following the theme of old and weathered. The inclusion of what seems to be a black and a green chalkboard is a charming touch.
