I'd never seen this type of texture/covering on any flower. Looks as though it was spray painted with an oil base enamel. Possibly some natural protective coating against insects. Maybe it is good eating, as it has built-in cup hooks.

I don't know, Doug. Should this flower be centered in the middle of the shot to show proper balance? LOL.

By coincidence I had a big dish of these flowers for lunch today. I checked online and they are delicious but very poisonous. I'm on my way to the hosp.....

This is a great and rare shot of the Incendia Domus Proprius, the flower from which pigment is extracted for painting fire hydrants. What makes this shot even more unique is that you caught the plant right after a shampoo. It's another deft flora portrait perfect for brightening the endless gray days we're getting where I live.
