This is a very good photo of a beautiful flower, Doug. My only real problem with the shot is the subject - it's a %$^*'ing flower. Other than that I like the blurred background, the balance of the composition and the richness of the colors. When are you taking a vacation trip?

The details of the flower look excellent against the blurred and darker background. At first the upward thrust of the bloom made me wonder why there was more space below the flower than above it. But I see that would require slicing off some of the rich purple bud lower right. And that would do harm to the welcome interloper. So, under the circumstances, well done as usual!
