The Canada Geese are arriving by the thousands every day, now. They rather like wintering where the lakes don't freeze over, and migrate many hundreds of miles into the mid United States by November. All the lakes around here are still frozen, but there are ponds and spillways with open water, where they rest up before heading further North.

Very nice capture of the honkers my friend, I find them so neat to watch, even though some do not appreciate them because they can make messes. Tigs♥ =^..^

I am so glad the Canada Geese are heading your way and leaving ours. They just seem to take over wherever they want. I see this both in Phoenix and in Richmond. Good view of these guys in their home territory.

I hear the odd one or two flying overhead at night as they head further north at this time of year. Strangely enough they are not a problem around these parts even though they gather in large numbers in local farm fields every fall.
A lovely capture of the geese, Doug.

We have Canadian geese here too, Doug. But they've decided that they like the area and have no idea how to fly home. When I walk at the lake, I've started picking up stray goose and domestic duck eggs which have been laid on the lawn areas next to park benches. I don't touch the ones in the reeds.

I'm not in the habit of having anything to say in my critiques of your postings because they're typically right on the button. In this particular case, I'm wondering if it wouldn't have been wise to remove the 1/2 goose on the left.

Canada geese aren't the only ones who rather like wintering where the lakes don't freeze over. It's an excellent photo, yet I suspect I see an even better one constructed around only those three center geese. Those three, entirely surrounded by only water would make for a simple, dramatic and elegant shot. Of course if this is a family portrait, that changes things and we wouldn't want to crop out Mother Goose and Uncle Bill. Nice work.
