I think Bob nailed it, Doug. This really does look like a flower smashed on your windshield. I love the detail on the stems and am amazed at the beauty in the watercolor appearance of the flower. Like you, I've been doing some experimenting. I posted a "normal" shot today, but I have like 9 versions of the same shot using various artistic effects and some of the software you've mentioned. With spring in the air it brings out the experimental kid in me. As Brandon said, "Nice effect".
My initial impression about this photo was the flowers were scared and searching ahead and behind to see where the next one's coming from. The effect is dynamic but also a little unsettling.
