Living along the Southern limits of the Pre-Cambrian Shield, where rock is only inches below the surface soil, makes this a fairly common sight. Fortunately, the density of tree growth is such that most can't bend that far without finding support from a neighbour.

An interesting scene you've come across, Doug. The colours seem a bit over saturated and the blue slightly dominates the the view.

Good find..Strong Winds & Gales can and do play havoc!

Seems the earth under this one was not strong enough eh!

It's a wonder that they even get to be so big with such shallow roots. Must be a lot of rain to nourish them with moisture.
