I don't know what they are, and they just pushed their way up throuh dead leaves and twigs. Has me stumped, as I've walked this path three times a day for over twenty years. Possibly animal or bird droppings. Bright and cheery anyway.

Nice shot, Doug.

Very strong on the note of composition.

And I really enjoy the colour contrasts as well.

Looks like a cousin of the dandelion Doug. They look good with their bright colors against the dead leaves.

Nice color and the way they seem to shoot up is amazing. Beautiful in among all the leaves. Great capture.

These look to be coltsfoot. Good colour and lighting in the photo, Doug. A lovely spring scene to find on your walk. Very nicely done.

I think this is a delightful image Doug. The contrasting new growth on the bed of old leaves with the little touch of green peeping through makes it very attractive.Wonderful clarity. They appear to be reaching for the sun.

It is illegal to propogate Coltsfoot in NZ and is listed as an 'Unwanted Organism' due to its spreading nature. I believe it is also an ingredient in a recently banned synthetic cannabis product !

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
