The sun has just risen above the horizon into a rare cloudy sky. It's close to the Mexican border in Southcentral Arizona. These Saguaros can outlive us by a hundred years.
The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
Well, Ima have to pile on! Love the contrast and tonal range in this. I had no idea Saguaros lived so long. I guess that's how they get so big. Excelent work. Enjoyed. -Christie
Nice work in this Composition, Doug! I started Experimenting with B&W film, Long ago, in the Arizona desert, with Far less Fantastic results! This one yields a Degree of Mystical character!
HOLY SMOKES!!! A powerful and most captivating image Doug!!!! A brilliant display of your talent and gift. No wonder I have to pay attention to your comments of my "now"ordinary stuff!!:):) Superb capture and presentation!!! A fave for sure:):) Can someone tell me why I get this: (Internal Server Error) every time I nominate an image for the permanent galley???
This one grabs your eyeballs and just doesn't let go. The sky is wild & surreal, with an almost rendered look. You hit all your thirds pretty nicely too, virtually textbook.
A great b/w presentation of this desert scene, Doug. A nice sharpness in the photo. A lovely sky and lighting. The highlighting on the edges of the tall cactus is a minor distraction as is the graininess in the sky along the right edge of the photo.
