I'm posting this image purely as one that might be of interest. Through the canyon and flowing to your left is the Rio Grande,(you can't see it) and it continues on to the Gulf of Mexico. The thousand foot elevation to the left is Mexico, and the U.S.A. to the right...and I'm standing in Big Bend National Park, south central Texas. On the U.S. side of the Rio Grande at the base of the Mexican cliff you can walk through ankle deep water for twenty feet and be in Mexico. Another thirty feet and you can start climbing if you have your pasport, and the necessary equipment :-).

That's amazing, Doug. I had no idea that the Rio Grande flowed through such terrain. I've always pictured it as meandering through flatlands. Another thing is ankle deep water cutting through a 1000 ft. gorge. That river must have been a lot friskier in its younger days. Nice colors, textures, & deep blue sky. ...Ed

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Impressive heights! They don't look like they are in two different countries. Funny how that works.

A good view of the canyon walls. Nice lighting of the scene. I like the deep shadows in the shot.
