Max and Zulu, just having left Canada's Winter snows, are racing about on snows that you don't sink into up to your belly. Though it looks and feels like sand, it is actually Gypsum crystals, blown in from sedimentary rocks in the mountain canyons in the background.

Intense contrasts give a dramatic view of this amazing scene. Wouldn't have known about Gypsum crystals, so thanks for mentioning that. Does look like a sandy desert.
