High in the Colorado Rockies near the village of Marble,(one small store), this is the Crystal River Mill. It serviced the the nearby gold mines and prospectors in the area. That narrow slash of white, all the way to the top, and just left of the Mill roof is the Crystal River. A half mile further up this narrow lane is the remains of the old town, now owned by a religous group, and who spend the Summer months. I went into a a one room store, attached to a cabin home, to purchase a coke and was sent across the road to a small stream to retreive it. They have no power lines, nor did I see or hear any generators. Just half a dozen small cabins and everything very clean and tidy.

Doug - With the dark b/w tones, it could be a wonderful wood cut print. Excellent comp too. Thad

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine The Earth without art is just 'eh'.

Spooky place, you sure wouldn't want to sleep walk there, lol. I really like all the different textures and the b/w adds character to this shot

One of your best Doug. When was this taken?
I really think the b/w gives it the primitive look it deserves.
A classic shot.

I have seen more shots of that old mill than I can possibly hope to count. However, this one adds an entirely new twist on things. Very well done here and a fine piece of work. Faved and saved. My home State has alot of photo opportunities!

Wow, what a rickety place! I think the vertical emphasizes the stairs and cliff going up. Nice one!

Great shot and information, Doug. I also like the vertical format. It works perfecly with the stairs. Nicely done.
