This is a momma raccoon that came for dinner every evening for many years. She trained and raised her babies, on my deck and in the trees surrounding it....bringing them in, two at a time, and a week apart, as she always had six each Spring. By late Spring the youngsters would climb all over me when I sat on the deck floor, while she sat just a foot or two away. watching their every move.

What a sweet shot, and well titled. I loved the story, she must have been pretty healthy, and stayed safe for those many years. What a wonderful experience. Tigs♥ =^..^=

Beautiful portrait and story, Doug.
When we were kids my Father found some baby racoons standing on the edge of the road. The Mother was dead having been hit by a car .
So he put the babies in the truck and brought them home. We "raised " them so to speak with the help of a friend who was a Vet. There was a small one that we didn't feel could survive in the wild so we kept him. His name was Fitzgerald he was a great pet . I feel wild animals should not be kept as pets but in this case he would have never survived . He lived to a good old age and had a good life . We kids loved him !

Excellent shot, Doug! I too have a critter that comes around every evening, always too dark to get a good shot. You did great with this one. I have forbid my kids to get too close or feed him. Teaching coons to trust humans isn't in their best interest in these parts.
