I found this new mother clinging to my glass outside door, not really noticing the tiny speck about a half inch away from her head. I slid the inner door panel open a bit to make sure she wasn't caught between the panels, and closed it again and went back to editing more oldies. About an hour later I checked to see if she was still there, and noticed a glint of something from the speck a half inch away from her head. It took a magnifier to confirm it was a new life. I used a Macro lens and flash to get a few shots. The background is the lake, well out of focus. The youngster was about the size of a small black ant. They were there for about four hours from the time I noticed them, and I'm guessing it was allowing the wings to dry thoroughly. An interesting experience, as the little one was about 1/8th the size in this picture.

That was truly a very unusual experience Doug. Apparently she felt quite safe on the glass door. Never seen anything like that before.

Amazing to have witnessed this event, Doug. The damselfly appears to be keeping a close eye on her youngster. The blurred lake really sets off their detail nicely. Magnificent capture.

So you are a midwife now, Doug. Or would it be midhusband? :)
Great shot and the background looks great. I thought it was the sky.

At first I thought you had captured them in mid flight. I'm still wowed about your capture on your glass door. Good background, a very sharp image, Doug, and good narrative.

A nice close up on the flies Doug. A good job keeping the glass clean. :)
