If you've watched the news lately you've probably seen or heard of Detroit filing for bankruptcy. As hard as it tried,it never really recovered from the race riots and burnings of the early 1960's..... even though all of those tallest buildings were built in the decades following.

It appears Detroit is a troubled city in more ways than one. Wonderful capture of Detroit's skyline, Doug. I like the moodiness with the ominous clouds & the B / W presentation. To me it definitely conveys the city's current status.

I agree your postwork here is excellent, the B&W is perfect and it is so sharp, and clear. Their population has been in decline for some years now, might me a sign of more things to come? I certainly hope not.

Some years ago on flight to Calif. I had to change planes at their airport, that was not the best experience for a woman traveling alone. I was lucky, a very nice young gentleman helped me out, and we ended up sharing space on the plane headed out west. He was going to a reunion of some of his old school friends. I felt someone was on my side during that trip.

Beautiful B/W shot of the city. Here you don't see the ruined buildings and broken windows what I saw on TV. What a pity! Nice composition and sharpness here.

Beautiful shot Doug of a city that once was .
There are so many factors that has delivered Detroit to where it is today . Sad thing is we probably haven't learned from our mistakes.
There's plenty of blame to go around on both sides of the isle .... federal and local in my opinion.

Motown is running on fumes, Doug.
What a shame. Your shot is excellent.
It has an isolated look which is what it is becoming.

Looks great in B/W, Doug. You think it will become a tourist attraction or will it be joined by many other failed cities in America?

Excellent image Doug and much to think over about what happened in Detroit especially for those living in Chicago.

A nice shiny, gleaming place in your photograph Doug. A good view of the city water frontage. The horizon line could be straightened out. The photo dips down to the right.
