This mother duck brings her offspring from an uninhabited bay, about a city block away... and every day she stops at my raft and they all get on for a rest. They stay for twenty minutes or so and then continue on to a shallow bay about 1/8th of a mile further. Between six and seven P.M. they again stop on their way home. There's never any variance, and as long as Blue isn't outside, I can approach without disturbing them. The babies usually fall asleep in less than a minute, for the first month or so.
