This is the road from the South-West entrance into Joshua Tree Park. It's a few miles in to the first Visitor Centre and is the area where two deserts meet. The Mojave Desert to the North, travels up through Death Valley, the Sonoran Desert extends Southward from here into Mexico, and the topography varies considerably.

Amazing scenery in this area Doug - having never traveled in the southwest it's always so interesting to me and your manipulation is beautiful.

This would make a superb B&W challenge entry, your manipulation is very good, and I like the lead through with the roadway.

I can see John Wayne on his horse "Harley," taking that trip Doug.
Either that or a Ford, a John Ford.

The landscape is otherworldly with the rugged terrain and different forms of vegetation in B&W. Very well done.

This reminds me of the Sci-Fi movie Forbidden Planet Here with your dramatic use of light, shadows and contrast Doug!!! A 'forbidden' and foreboding landscape for sure:):)
