Another photograph from this amazing airshow that we went to several weeks ago. Thanks to Dutch_Postings, who's been giving me this amazing history lesson on these airshow posts, I'm learning more and more about the aircraft and what they meant to our Country during war time. Thanks for the kind comments on this series.

Real good shot, too bad about the half person in the shot. Could be cloned out easily though.

Kay - it is a bit uncommon for a woman to post airplane photos, and I am so glad you are so uncommon. As a pilot I love the areo pictures. I agree with ebjo that the half person can easily be removed, but I think air photos should show people, they give a nice perspective to the aircraft size. Did this person suffer much when you cut him in half? The camera is such a brutal tool :) Nice shot. Do more please.

Trying to create good pictures, I feel as if I am standing on the edge of Insanity. There was a door. I found myself knocking on the door. The door opened. I was knocking from the inside. Oh Darn!

Thanks for this fine picture of the Skyraider build by Douglas, it saw action in Vietnam, and was like your previous Corsair upload, an aircraftcarrier based aircraft.
Besides this info, i am not to familiar with this one, but i do love your posting again :-)

Actually the A-1 was built at the end of WW II but did not make it to the war. It did fly in Korea and Vietnam. It is a large airplane and has done many roles. It can loiter for 10 hours and is slow enough to stay with helicopters and provide cover while they try to pick up downed crew. I had heard and then finally met one pilot from Vietnam who did a heroic mission but was not recognized as he got very mad trying to save a pilot's life. He also landed his airplane to pick up a downed pilot and the pilot was severely wounded and close to death. The rescue pilot radioed the base to have medical personnel ready to pick up the wounded pilot. When he landed and taxied up to the ramp, no one was there. He was worried the pilot would die, so he folded up the wings and taxied the airplane to the hospital, where the pilot was saved. He upset many people by driving to the hospital so he never was recognized but did not care. A true hero. Another pilot who did this received the Medal of Honor but stayed on the airplane ramp.
