it's cranberry harvest time!

cape cod, and harwich in particular, has many cranberry bogs (most of them now owned by ocean spray), and october is harvest time... the bogs are flooded, using an elaborate irrigation system, and 'threshing' machines are used to knock the berries from the bushes... the berries float to the surface where they can be 'corraled' and scooped up... this was the first time I've seen the harvesting, really exciting! and in the next few days I'll post more pictures of the entire process... ;-)))

How exciting.. I knew that this went on, but I've never been down at this time of year to experience it...thanks for this view and I'm looking forward to more :)

Love the colors. I'm kinda looking at these backwards but I just discovered them. Too bad John Wayne is dead. He could make movie called: Cranberries at the OK Corral." If the Duke was in it, it would be good. Your narrative is very informative. Great post.
