the bay view trail at the audubon nature center in south wellfleet... to the left is, yes, cape cod bay... I don't know what the red-tinged vegetation is but the green ground cover is called 'bearberry' and it carpets much of the heath... when I first moved to the cape I used to come here and find an isolated spot of bearberry to lie down in and meditate, with only the wind and the birds for company...

So many of your cleverly composed and richly colored photos make it into my faves files and this one is no exception. Meditation on the heath? Sounds like the clear ticket to me!!

Mary I can only imagine what Bearberries would do to me. You need to look in my gallery sometime to understand. I do know what this photo did to me. It made me thankful that I had the opportunity to look at it. I like the path and the red whatever's. It's like cranberries on the beach. Good shot and coloring. Nice narrative. This one has it all. Good post.

Very reminiscent of the "downs" of England. One expects Farmer Oak or Bathsheeba Everdeene to be walking along this path. The image has the air of the past like a Hardy novel.
And it is perfect in all its aspects. Onto the desk she goes!
