I got lucky over at the chatham fish pier... two trawlers came in loaded with fish and lobsters, and that means all the waiting seagulls duke it out for the scraps thrown overboard... this time of year hundreds of atlantic seals lounge around out on monomoy island off of chatham... except for these two who knew a good thing when they smelled it... they've been hangin' out at the pier for weeks begging for scraps, and that's a small shark he just got handfed... which was kind of a risky endeavor for the fisherman, since a seal that big could take his hand right off...

I am completely frustrated, depressed and in bad need of some help from professional headshrinker - can a sweet seal devour a little defenceless shark !!!??? LOL
I suspect my legs [not sure about which one] are being pulled ...LOL
Excellent capture demonstrating your alertness, Mary !

A very rare capture I am sure! Interesting shot and you are right about the seal, a worker at SeaWorld had a big chunk bitten out of their thigh by a seal! Cute things but don't ever get in their way.

Is this the "Good Housekeeping Seal" or what? Seems with all the food being recalled in America, we need some kind of seal to watch over us. Fisherman seem to be enjoying themselves. Just a great photo Mary.

Great Shot, Had something similar happen to my dad's friend but it was of the coast of Santa Barbara and it was a sea lion...

I never knew that seals eat sharks! You should name the seal Sharkie!

How ironic. Seals are eaten by sharks and this one is feasting on a shark. Nice capture.
