this one is for a friend of mine who loves cape cod hydrangeas, which are blooming everywhere these days... since I don't have access to any photo programs just yet, I went the old-fashioned way and held up a small vaseline-smeared piece of glass in front of the lens to get the blur effect...

Mary ... a beautiful gift for your friend. I was out taking pic's of hydrangeas yesterday & yours turned out much better than mine. Never heard about the piece of glass trick before ... clever idea. I love the softness to the petals. Very well done. Faves!

Very slick idea HF. It almost slid right by me. Great colors and I love the look your created. Maybe a milk bottle for cloudy effect. You have opened up a whole new world to me. Excellent post and will make a great desktop.

Oooooooo we have Hydrangeas right now too! I have some pale bloo ones in my yard, will take a pic too! These are so lovely. THere aren't many bloo flowers on earth that I know of, and the colour of yours is gorgeous.Bloo and purple I think. You ought to invest in a filter to bring about the same affect. They don't cost much, but of course it depends on if your camera handles other lenses etc or not. I like how you did this, hope it comes off your lens ok. Thanx for a gorgeous view of a lovely flowers..onto my desktop it goes..Verena

Your friend thanks you! And the Garbo-treatment works like a charm. Remember how Whistler-esque and fuzzy the alienated Swede looked in GRAND HOTEL? Well, you've given these blue beauties the same romantic aura.
