on a day like this, with a storm just offshore, the ocean sends out one continuous roar that can be heard a mile inland... the waves were somewhere between ten and fifteen feet as they peaked, and I took this while I was standing on the stairs that take you down from the cliff to the beach, mostly because there wasn't any beach... the tide was high and the water foamed all the way up to the base of the sand cliff, inundating the bottom third of the stairs themselves... not even the surfers were out...

What a great capture. The division of the picture into four distinct sections each with its own characteristic is superb.

I agree with the divisions. An excellent capture, Mary, showing the power and strength of the sea.

If you looked up the phrase "wall of water," this would be the photo. Great colors and action HF. You were wise not to set those HF on the nonbeach. So many different colors.

Beautiful.

Great minds think alike, Mary! This is wonderful. You've caught all that untamed, wild power that's in the waves so well. Faved.

See now? you got me into the mode of NEEDING to go to the Ocean. I really want to go, I love this time of year. Funny, isn't it? you and I are on opposite shores of the USA, and yet we both see such gorgeous Ocean scenes. I love this one of yours. When the winds are like this, and the surf makes such gorgeous patterns, well, a person really sees the fierceness of the sea...yet it's always beautifuly. You took a brave and wonderful photo my dear friend. THanx..verena

Unusually dark for a shot of the waves and sea, but with the sun at that angle you've managed to capture the powerful motion of the breaking wave in a whole new 'light', so to speak :-) Works very well. 10/10. Desktop for the day!
