a sad story: a while back we noticed that a female robin had eyed the porch overhang for a nest, which she built in one afternoon... she was soon sitting on her eggs, and not too long after that there were at least three babies in the nest... she was kept busy bringing them bugs and worms, but she couldn't tolerate our presence even if we were thirty or so feet away... we took to using the back door so as not to freak her out so much... then, a couple of days ago, all of them simply disappeared, I mean they were gone, no mama and no babies in the nest, not even any eggshells, in fact the nest was the only thing left... the babies were much too young to have fledged and left the nest. (I managed to get this shot from my car window where she couldn't see me. I had shots of the babies but didn't have the heart to post them.)

How long after they hatched were they gone Mary?
Because they will leave the nest in or around 14 days from hatching.

Thanks for sharing.

Awww...That is sad Mary. I wonder what happened to them. I have a mama robin too with 3 babies very near our back door. Where our bedroom window is located I can see and hear them very clearly. In fact, they woke me up this morning!...lol...But this is a great capture of the mama. At least you have that! Good shot girl!

Either the cat or the raccoon is my guess HF. Just kidding. Some Robin's just don't like people. It is hard to believe but it is the case. Nice photo and she does looks somewhat shy.

A nice shot of the Robin Mary. I think they just moved on. I've noticed that the baby chicks learn to fly one day and the next day the whole family has moved out of the nest.
Thanks for sharing

Fabulous capture of the Robin Mary, it's the male, females chest isn't that bright, they take turns sitting on the nest.

That is such a sad story, how old were they before they weren't there anymore?
