waves kicked up by hurricane bill made an immense challenge for the body surfers at nauset beach on outer cape cod... no one was injured and they all had a lot of fun...
Wonderful capture of both the powerful waves in different stages of breaking and of the people playing in the surf. The child in me says," look at those great waves let's get in there and play." The 56 year-old adult says, "It might look like fun, but it's far too dangerous!"
Mary - When I was about the age of the boys in this photo, a similar storm was off shore, and I body surfed at Nauset. This photo brings back many wonderful memories. I recall making sure that we rode the wave until we were thrown onto the sand so as to avoid the undertow that was very strong. You captured the power of nature and the enjoyment it can bring in one terrific photo. Thad
HMm, made me smile... I absolutely LOVE the top half of the image: such a contrast between the darkness and smoothness of the main body of the wave and the tiny white spiky droplets of the foam of its crest! Amazing capture.
Always remember - Follow the Yellow Brick Road, it will lead you to OZ and the Emerald City. A very nice place to live. Trust me on this one, I live there. The Lion **** MY CAEDES GALLERY****Another Site I'm AT - MY DA HOME PAGE
It reminds me of the scene from Jaws when he said "We need a bigger boat." What power you have captured. When you live in the midwest the only waves are from the passing motorists. Maybe the neighbors if you are nice. :) Great work HF.
I went out to catch some waves at Folly Beach (Charleston,SC) while hurricane Katrina was sitting East of Southern Florida....I almost drowned! I had no idea how powerful those wave could be....I wish I would've had someone capture great shots like this during my near death excursion! LOL
