I came across these three men (and one dog) harvesting cranberries in early november... they were wrestling with the last of the cranberries down at one end of the bog, and I was able to get a few shots of them before continuing my walk... the man on the left is raking cranberries toward the man in the middle, who is raking them into a submerged suction hose, which spits them out into a truck nearby... the man on the right is pulling a containment boom tighter around the berries... and the dog is having a drink of water... so on Thanksgiving, as you savor your cranberry relish next to the stuffing and turkey, think of these three men and one dog working hard to bring the little red berries to all of our holiday tables... I know I will... ;-)

Love this image for several reasons. One of them - rather important - is that cranberries are my most favourite and best beloved fruit ...
Seeing this hard working dog makes my heart melt at the idea that I owe my favourite meal [yes, not a side dish or a dessert LOL] to the efforts of this canine who like mine is not afraid to work like hell !!! LOL
Then last not least by no means, this image has magic quality. The lighting here and composition and every other aspect one may choose is special and excellent and unique.

I'm always amazed when I see images of harvesting cranberries. It looks SO different to any agriculture over here. Fresh or cranberries are gaining popularity over here but no where near as in the USA.
Mary, this is a fascinating image with so much to look at. I hope you had a good walk.

Wow - just in time for Thanksgiving! Fantastic photo of the cranberry harvest. I recall one of the bigger suppliers of everything cranberry had a TV commercial showing two gents standing in the middle of a bog of cranberries. This is the real Mccoy. Thanks for sharing!

Grats on your win in the contest. Being originally from MA, I appreciate the cranberry industry. This captures all the essence of a cranberry bog and also the beginning of the early morning work day of any farmer in the world. Well done.
