Got a bit bored today and decided to photoshop some of the photo's i took on holidays :)
This took about 10 minutes to make, lots of colour correction and fixing up the quality (making it sharper etc.)
Gemma will be pleased to know i used a gradient made from the colours from one of her pictures (.enohpaxaS heT) :P

This shot is amazing--Love those shades of purple and green, they make it pop in a great way.

This is nice work Dave.
Let's get the poop out of the way, forgive me for being blunt here ...
The main flower that has very good clarity/detail ... don't know if this is a crop, if not ... ok, you worked with the raw materials at hand and did a great job. Suppose it's obvious where I am going with this ... however, wish you didn't cut off the rest of that main bloom, simply put.
The interior matte/subdued image ... is a tad dark. But, I am coming around to thinking this is part a calibration issue and part, different kinds of monitors. As in, CRT's vs. TFT's.
Fortunately, I just adjusted mine as I was mucking about in PS too. And came here to view and could just make out the image in the matte, so to speak.
Good job on the sharpening. Think you had a deft touch and handled that aspect of editing very well.
And I do like how you used the rule of thirds with the ratio of the inset photo in relation to the overall composition. So ...
Cropped or no? If cropped, perhaps a revisit is in order?
Still, allll that said ... quite pleasant to view. The colours ... and I take it, are part of the results of the gradient you employed ... are very good.

About the brightness issues ... I really don't know, it's perfectly fine on my monitor, but then again i do have a relatively bright monitor compared to the old style ones :P
I may revisit this one now and update it. You know, brighten the background, move the main flowers a bit to the right to show the rest of the bloom etc. :)

ALL MY WORK IS NOW AT photobucket and i spend all my time at SpawnPoint, forum for gamers.
As a stand-alone image the left is a little dark, but as a desktop it works perfectly in that section as my icons stand out well. And as purple is my favourite colour, I'll have to 'favourite' it! Nice work, Speedy.
