I took this in Mexico last March, while on vacation with family. Today it was cold, so I took a nice long look at it to remember the heat of Central America. It's nothing new or special, but I figured I have to get SOMETHING up on this site...

It's interesting that you chose this shot to upload. The curve is a fundamental element of imagery, and this one has an anchor (the foliage) on its left, and a tree which could be used as a framing element on the right. Now I think the image could be improved if the tree were further to the right (I know, I know - move a tree?), but the image has good "bones".

Nice first start, and you probably weren't thinking "Caedes-ish-ly" when you took this. The above suggestions are good, but this is very appealing.
