Gorgeous shot of the library, Chris.

The sky is something I am not used to.. going to let that element sink in some. And it's not that I don't like, to be clear.. more curious as to the reasons behind your creative and editing choices.

Doing the +fav thing.. to revisit and enjoy.

And..

But, of course.. thanks for sharing this one with us. Jumps out of the New Images galleries and that is indeed a good good thing.

I think the sky actually brings the Library "out", like "pushing it", out, I love it

This is similar architecture to the post office that you posted awhile back. Must be the same time period. Gorgeous photo!

the sky..lol, if you must know....

I took a two hour drive to get there during stormy skies. then it rains steady for 2.5 more hours, leaving me in the truck waiting. by then it was dark, i was going to get my shots regardless! then drive home. not a good place to be at night time in downtown Saginaw.could have been worse, downtown Detroit. but i know that city better. borned and raised there.

so by now I was on a tripod shooting with a wireless remote. in the middle of a deserted intersection with abandon buildings all around me. on my Canon it must be in timer mode. of course now into the dark of night time.(obviously) started taking a series of brackets in all different fstops. for an HDR

I then got back in the parked truck, set the camera on the dash of the truck while i put the tripod up. then i reached for the camera and accidenly hit the shutter button the timer was on! so i just let it rip before putting it up. it took a shot through the windshield with on coming car and low shutter speeds took one wierd blurry shot of light, the dash, reflection from the glass...it was a mess but i seen something worth keeping for a manip maybe later.

Lacking a sky now, because this pic was done in the dark. i remembered the one that went off accidently. it had some Blue in it from the dash of the truck and white light...see where this is going?

didnt have any good scary night time shots to use for the sky replacement...so i made this one from the accidental one. twisted, distorted, and motion blur in PS. then it sort of reminded me of the Northern Lights a bit. so i used the one of an on coming car with thier headlights on and my dashboard. creative? i suppose in a way. more out desperation then creation...lol true story. i even kept the orig just incase someone were to contest.

so i suppose the phrase "there are no accidents" its true in this case. you just need to look pass the dash :)

That is one hairy and crazy story Stylo but well worth the wait and your picture is outstanding and remarkable. We are truly blessed for your patience and creativity and of course your skills; purposeful or accidental, either way works for me:):)!!!

Perfect lighting and treatment for this splendid night shot, Chris.
Thanks for your additional and explaining comment.
I like to say however that any artist has the right and freedom to manipulate his or her image their way, whether it's liked by the 'audience' or not, while not having the obligation too to provide us with an explanation about that. I've appreciate that you've done this and appreciated as well the supporting and constructive meaning of the commenters.

I like it and agree with Carlos on the sky but I also enjoyed the explanation of how it came to be. It is a striking shot.
