I have so many of Beaureguard (no that's not a typo in hes name) I figure one more of Hallie by herself was justifiable.

Another just straight from the card. I first played around a bit in Lightroom, then again in PS, the corrections were so subtle but improved. Then you reduce the size to 61% to upload it to Caedes,(Caedes will compass it again) then you look again at it..hummm what was the point?...lol its just getting a little to picky for the rewards of something so subtle only I will see anyways...and no use in smoothing it to death in software.

The Camera Wins Again!

I think sometimes we try to improve a shot to the point we ruin it, even when the camera got it right in the first place. no use in getting over obsessed in technical software when reduction in file size will override it anyways. Yet we all are guilty of it at some point...lol

I little fyi: i shoot with a D60 Canon one cheap telephoto 70-300mm thats not worth listing what it cost and one 18-135mm that's about the same, just kit glass!...Surprise! everything you see in my gallery was shoot with that glass. you just have to know your limitations...and I push that glass to its max. yet I give you something unique all the time, even worthy of fav or two :) and The main gallery which I find quite satisfying, more so then a win in any contest, thats a great honor over looked to most

So you don't have to break the bank to have some fun and flexibility outside a point and shoot, bridge camera ect... I truly am over due for an upgrade here soon! no doubt!! I've truly passed that threshold long ago for more detail. but for now?

Enjoy.

My male is a handsome boy but a hyper handful, tigs knows she help me bring them both to the vet..lol Hallie is just the opposite, eligant and posed, she is more or less a rescue, so I was glad to take her on and save her from a life of just show and never be able to be a true dog. she has that now with almost 14 acres to run with my male and act like a clown! she is very gentle and one "Hallie Hug" from her? your in total awwww! very sweet girl for a Boxer. this is an over all very hyper breed, be aware of that if your thinking on one. they must burn energy all the time, or they are likely to misbehaved like gremlins, trying your patience's all the time if they don't get what they need. yet, Noble and Proud, a very protective breed great our kids. its been over 30yrs with them now. and 25 of my first yrs with German Shepherds of the meanest kind. Dogs i know!! I love cats, I just know what I can handle, or not! without going over board is all. you do and its just not being fair to the animal. they are little kids with needs daily, if you cant provide that? then please dont!! its harmful to the pet.

Chris, this portrait of Hallie is already a good one, but honesty obliges me to say that your 'Hallie II portrait' is even a slightly better one to me.
I've read your narrative with interest. I prefer on the one hand to capture images that are coming straight from the camera as well. But on the other hand, I like to achieve the best possible result. In my humble opinion than one has to take images in the RAW mode, causing a kind of dilemma, because RAW images have to be edited and converted to a to Caedes compatible mode. I agree with you that photo editing programs are tempting us to improve an image in an overdone way, so my advice to every Caedes friend is: beware for this danger! Even after editing an image in the best possible way, one can be disappointed by its result, because of the limitation in size by Caedes, so reducing the initially quality of an image.
Meanwhile I've learned to deal with this limitation, ☺ !
Wish you success with your straight from the card 'attempts' (please notice the quotation marks, ☺)

She is one beautiful boxer and I agree completely with your description of the breed. When I was very little 3 or 4 and I would be in the front yard my Mom could count on our boxer to grab me by the seat of my pants if I headed towards the street.

A classic AKC pose and photo, Chris. Against all that tall green grass she literally jumps off my screen, alive and looking for a ball to chase.
