In San Juan Bautista, CA, I came across this car on a street that resembled a ghost town. I liked the color contrast, so I used the "fluorescent" mode on my camera to highlight it even more.
Great composition, this is a classic shot. You're quite right, the color contrast makes it... I'd have been tempted to ramp up the saturation even more in Photoshop.
Wow I got this in the voting booth and had to comment on it. It's absolutely fantastic. I love the bright blue bug's contrast to the dirty run-down look of the building. I also like that the car isnt right in the center of the photo.
The color on the car is so shiny and new and bold and the backdrop of the buildings is so drab and dark and old. Great contrast here. Good eye for a great image. I also like the yellow stripe on the road. That adds just the right amount of reality to the entire image. Thanks for sharing this with us ;=)
Huh, never thought of setting my white balance to that mode to pick out certain colors before. I'll have to give that one a whirl. We see a lot of these old bugs around here. People tend to hang on to stuff, that is if they keep them off the streets in the winter when the salt hits the road to melt the snow and make rust spots on metal. Intriguing shot and one that kept me looking for a long time. Thanks for the lesson, as well. :)
Thank you all for your comments. I am blushing! Never thought an inocent shot like this one would be so popular. I will continue my search for more pics you all can enjoy!
I had a beetle one time. This brought back memories. The background really adds to composition. Beetle looks freshly painted and appears like it's telling buildings they could stand a spot of paint. Very nice. As they say: "Beauty is where you find it."
And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."
I would have never thought of doing that with my camera. The contrast is simply amazing. I've always had a soft spot for VW..esp the Bugs. Fantastic shot. A fav for me!!
Punch bug ....no punch back! Great shot...I thought this was doctored in PS as well. If I had to give one critical point it would be....uhhh....cant see one really! Good job! I'm about to go dig through your gallery now....LOL
