I knew I'd have to be there at sunrise to capture the true colours of the new day's sun on the banks of Australia's great Murray River. It was worth creeping out of my cabin in the early hours. It felt like I was the only person in the universe.

Nicely done on the technical side of things.

Exposure is good good. Colours are indeed very rich, deep and striking. Clarity and focus there in spades.

Caveats.

If I may and being bold here.. although I believe your photo to be actually 'level' ... seems to be a false aspect of sorts/perspective distortion.

Perhaps, a slight clockwise rotation or that of some playing around with the Warp/Distort transform function in editing/post processing is in order to correct for this 'false'/perceived horizon?

(Hope you understand me here.)

That nonsense of mine aside..

Nice one. :o)

The color is so bold and the reflection really lights up this one Sue. Is it a stitch or a wide angle. Regardless it looks good to me but I don't have near the eye that Les does.
Keep writing those great books.

Running Photoshop CS5's "ruler" tool on the shoreline, the photo is only .1 degree off, so any aberration is only an optical illusion, and that, I believe, is created by the poles on the top of the cliff. The ruler shows them to be tilted to the left at 1.91 degrees, enough to trick the eye. Beautiful colors and reflection, Sue. The only suggestion I would have had was to remove those poles and wires before submitting. Landscapes are always improved by the absence of "civilization." You got good marks from me in the VB just now.

Thanks guys, for your handy hints! I fiddled for ages but decided in the end that the best policy was "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!. I do have a problem with level horizons although I'm always sober.... how odd is that!

What is life, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare - and take pictures!

Captivating complementing colors. I enjoy your vantage point. Makes me want to follow the shoreline to see what is beyond. Beautiful lighting and details. The stillness of the morning is a pleasure.

Striking colours in the cliff and a lovely reflection. A wonderful looking scene and a job well done!

The difference between a bad artist and a good one is: the bad artist seems to copy a great deal; the good one really does. ~William Blake
