I think the title says it all. Comments and critiques are always welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance for your views and comments! Happy Friday everyone!! :) Lori

credits: hair textures by Chris at Tutorialfreakz ; pattern by StainedGlassers ; created in PS CS3

edit: I'm thinking the title is not self-explanatory after all. My intent in this creation was to show that a frame of mind can change and fade from one frame to another, which may or may not always be apparent from the outside. I also failed to mention that the fade on the text was suggested by Nikoneer ; Thanks Nik for this excellent idea! This was also one of my images I was considering for the current competition. I have one other I will be submitting soon.

Thanks to all those who have taken the time thus far to really examine my creation and provide your thoughts

She seems more like depression than those stated emotions on the artwork. Laying on bed, with hands under her head. Staring forward into thought and imagination. The eyes are not bold, but rather, sad and contemplative. On my monitor, her eyes appear to be green. Her hair red/bronze. But all else is beige, which to me leads me back to depression. She is also boxed in with your frame and this, too, leads me back to the depression. Am I close, Lori, to the emotion of the picture or am I very far off?

I too felt the way John did about your posting. Altho it is a very creative piece of art, it does seem to send quite a message, other then the words on there. It's really all in ones mind. I see there is one of the tall letters that are positive, and three of the tall negative words. Strange, isn't it, what one posting like this can do to our own minds? But, on the other hand it's good for us to ponder. I like the idea of this, how about doing one in a "friendly" sorta colour with lots of 'happy' words? I'd love to see that. Thanx Lori, for the great imagination you always have. Verena

I like the edit you added, Lori. I think it's actually good to be able to 'draw peoples thoughts out' in their comments. That makes our postings way more interesting. Giving real thoughts gives us all more to ponder on. Thanx again Lori, very kewl! V

Hey Lori... I immediately took to your title as a clever way to have an image entered into the frames' contest... without a physical frame! :o)

Lovely work Lori, but I too agree with John and depression. How about what Les says: Turn it 90º and give it a portrait look....lol....I still can't get over the long comment from him!...hehe

If you go to the library, check out those oversized books about fine art, what my fellow art students in college called "weight training" because of their size and heft, you will discover that a great many of the renaissance painters portraiture was of reclining women. They knew as we all do, that whether you're standing, sitting, laying flat on your back, or even draped over the back of the sofa, you can be happy or sad, tense or calm, angry or loving. The reason I suggested the fade-in and -out of the text is because our emotions have those same qualities, and that's precisely because those emotions are our frame of mind -- changeable and adjustable -- regardless if we stand straight or hang upside down from the shower curtain like a vampire. If not, what would psychologists and psychiatrists do with all of us human chameleons? Your original idea is terrific, your "stained-glass" illustration is beautiful, and the title is perfect. Congratulations, my talented friend, you have a winner here and it's really all you... I just gave you some support.

Outstanding creation Lori & nicely executed. I especially like the meaning behind it & I think the girls expression could be any one of those emotions. I like the faded out fonts which I believe adds alot to the composition & this would make a wonderful contest entry. Kudo's!!!
