I know most people would disagree, but I like how the foreground came out in this picture, all silhouette-like. Even to the naked eye, though, it was hard to see the detail in this afternoon sunset shot on the Olympic Peninsula. It had just rained, and it was still misty, so I couldn't pass it up.

"I know most people would disagree, but I like how the foreground came out in this picture, all silhouette-like."

Hmmm ... maybe?

Kidding, kidding.

I don't mind the dramatic lighting and resultant silhouetting ... however, I might caution you to not shoot directly into the sun. Towards the ends of not frying something (camera's sensor).

Remove the len's flare (orangey-red spot) and you could readily kick this one up and leave your viewer's with just that of what you make mention of in your accompanying narrative.

Being frank ... it draws your eye too too much. And in my very humble opinion, detracts from your capture here.

Jury-rigged camera filter? ... use your sunglasses. Might be pleasantly surprised?

I agree with using a UV filter to help bring out brush silhouette & losing the lens flare.

From the thumbnail, I liked the red spot. But now that I have it in full, I would prefer to get more involved with the sharp bush on the left and the "bitten" conifer on the right...as well as the interesting cloud shadows in the center top...without my eye being drawn to the sunspot.
This one really needs to go full screen to appreciate the warmth of the sun and the vegetation reaching up towards it.
