I'm back from my short vacation. First stop was this wonderful big cat rescue center. This white tiger has been there since a young cub. At 6 months he was developing cataracts. We were told that breeders try to breed this color into the tigers and as young cubs if they don't meet the standards they want they are killed. She also told us that if you ever are asked to help with monetary support to keep this line of tigers going, don't be fooled. They are heartless and only in it for the money. This is not natural, and one of those manmade scams. Many years ago there was found a white tiger and now all the the white tigers can be traced back to the orginal one. They keep crossbreeding them till they get the results they want, and if they don't too bad for these wonderful creatures. If you would like to read about this rescure center you can do so HERE Sorry about the quality of the picture but it was taken through a fence with a 300mm lens and cropped alot. I thought this beautiful creature deserved some fame and hopefully my narration would offer education for others. I bow and take my hat off too these people that can make such an effort to help these fine animals. sandi♥

actually, Sandi, I really like the angle at which you've caught this beautiful beast. seems to be a slight magenta cast.. but nothing excessive. that, and the frame.. but most know I'm just not crazy about (most) frames in general..

as for the narrative, thank you for bringing this info to light. had no idea this was going on with tigers, but it's been going on for far too long with other animals more commonly known to us.

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.

There must be laws against that sort of animal cruelty. I'm surprised that they are not shut down. I love the tiger shot and thank you for letting us onto the information about what is happening with these poor cats.

The glass did hinder the background somewhat but it didn't keep you from capturing the sadness of the Tiger. I love the tones in this one Tigz.

Welcome back.

A place like this over here would be hounded until it ceased to open to the public!....as you say...it is not 'natural' and is against the laws of nature!

Nice work though!

Such a beautiful animal Sandi! I had no idea they did this - it is a shame that humans mess with nature. The angle you captured him from was perfect - love the way his head is turning. Hope you had a wonderful vacation.

Nice picture Sandi. You know what the great Mahatma Ghandi once said? That the people of a particular country are as civilised as how much they treat well their animal friends.

I think the quality is very good. I like the blurred background, and the partial shot of the tiger's head. Nice shot, Sandi. I hope you had a great time on vacation. I'm glad you are back.

Great capture of this beautiful tiger Sandi. He looks so sad - thanks for the education on white tigers. I have seen them in zoos but never knew about the cross breeding. He's in my favorites.

Sandi, this is wonderful. I really like the almost wistful look on the tiger's face.( I know you shouldn't anthropomorphise when dealing with animals, but it's hard not to.)

White tigers have got to be a favourite on anyone's list and just look at the beautiful blue eyes on this one. Your crop is really creative here Sandi, I like it a lot - and the blurred background, full of diagonals, really works with it.
