Silver Beach Pier and Lighthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan, which sets on the shores of Lake Michigan. There are actually two lighthouses and I think this is the original. I decided to play around some with this image for a different effect. I would like to know what your thoughts are. I could not get the sky any better than what it is. Because of the title I chose the water catagory. Thanks for your honest and helpful comments. =^..^= sandi ♪ ♫ ♪

This would make a great clear image and that is what one would expect from the thumb. It was a pleasant surprise to see this effect.I think that it was a good choice because it softens all that steel.I think that it worked very well.

I absolutely agree with Tom, the effect is superb and I cannot imagine anything better than this. The sky is just lovely and the steel presented in the most appealing manner.
Congratulations on this fairy tale image, dear Sandi!

The effect works for me ... I'm enjoying the softer look. I love how the horizon fades. Excellent capture Sandi.

I really like it, but I can't for the life of me figure out how you got this soft look. It creates a certain atmosphere for the scene. Nice work, Sandi.

I think the eight posts ahead of me have given you the answer Tigz. I find it interesting that I am working hard on clarity throughout the shot and you are softening the images.

That is what makes this such a great site. Love the angle and the natural framing. Nice post.

Oh Sandi...Its a beautiful scene, but I'm not overly fond of the softness in this. It seems too blurred for me. I have enough trouble seeing!..lol..I'm for the clearer version. But I can see that others do like it, so don't go by me!

I have to go along with EJ on this. I thought it was Ortonized too, but it just might be a glow or softening effect. What ever it is, the image is very appealing and the colors seem tp stand out. The perspective is really good and so is the composition. A really fine job here, Sandi.

Composition is very good

The seated couple, & passing sail boat add further interest to this scene. The upload has a cloudy / misty effect but this is not unattractive.
Well done Sandi. :o)

Sorry, Sandi. I seem to be the only person on Caedes that doesn't like this soft image. I think EJ has got it right. It looks like an Orton image and on the whole I'm not a fan of Orton images. the subject's great and I think your sky looks great.

With that sky the attention goes to where it belongs: the pier lighthouse and boat compostion. A dramatic sky howver will decrease the tension which is in this image now.
To me a great post Sandi.

I like the feeling in this. Hard to describe, but cinematic is what comes to mind. It's like there's a story going on, with the yacht heading towards the two figures, and the softness of the effect makes it feel very inviting. The colours are lovely in this too Sandi.
