Took this one today at the Mary Jane Thurston State Park in McClure, Ohio.

This Blue Heron did not seem to mind my presence much at all. I took some shots with my 17-70 lens and walked back to the car, put my Canon ef 70-300 IS USM lens on, and was hoping he would still be there.

I want to say that I was very pleased with the IS on the lens today. I cannot begin to say how darn windy it was. Terrible wind and 87 degrees. I did not get alot of pics. but some taken today. I need to learn more about some choice spots in that state and plan on a good long day.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

Very nice photo of the Heron, the clarity is very good,it looks very good.I think the kind of Heron we have here is the Grey Heron,it would be hard to get close as they are shy.Have a good sunday,Sandi.

You have taken this Heron the way it should be in my opinion. The Heron is not scared of you and is relax. I think he knows you are a animal friend! I like to see how he sits on that big bough. So very well done shot Sandi! Mich

Think this heron may got used to people. When I see a heron in my countryside, it always has seen me before and as soon I'm approaching it, it flys away. Tell me your trick Sandi, lol.
Excellent post.

Great shot Sandi. The most exotic bird we have around here would be a toss-up between a blue jay and a cardinal. I envy those of you with egrets and herons. What beauty and elegance they have.

Great shot Tigger! He does look relaxed and happy to pose. His color really stands out with the brown hues of the water and bough. Well done! :)Ami

While you are thinking about choice spots here in Ohio, I am thinking of choice spots somewhere else. LOL. Great capture of that heron. Crystal clear, and I like the way it is standing on the log.

Love the angle on this one Tigz. It has the feel of a predator staking its prey. I guess you were--only it was with a camera.
So very clear. Excellent.
