Took some time out for a nature walk the other day and out of nowhere came this beautiful flutterby. This was the best one of the shots I took, he/she was so active that is was hard to get one at all. Used the Canon 70-300 IS USM lens and hand held.

I'm not sure what kind of butterfly this one is, but I sure think it's gorgeous. I don't see that many of this kind around here.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

That's a nicely marked butterfly, Sandi. I didn't see any like that where I went a few weeks ago. Beautifully captured against the sky. Nice work.

I believe this is a Spicebush Swallowtail Sandi, great picture of her by the way. The DoF, and Focus are spot on. Wonder Presentation too. I have an image of this species posted in my gallery as, "In a Hurry".

The composition of this picture is wonderful Sandi. It's quite unusual to be able to see a butterfly against the blue of the sky and it works really well. Did you have to lay in wait for ages to get this?

It certainly is a gorgeous flutterby Sandi! The bit of iridescent blue along with the orange markings on it's wings looks strikingly beautiful with it's black/brown body! Excellent focus and details on this beauty, and I love the contrast of the soft blue background! Nicely done!

I will not be leaving comments on the new postings for the next 2 and ½ weeks, due to me being very busy getting ready for the holidays. So I hope you don’t mind, but I’ll be checking on them when I can. Look out, here I come to hotter weather, lol.
