A scene this very cold morning looking out from between my neighbors property line.

I used the Nikon D3000 with the 18-55 VR Kit lens and shot this in RAW mode and and used manual settings. This I had not done before.

I would like to know if you can see a difference in quality of the image from the previous ones.

Thank you in advance for your comments and support.

This is a beautiful shot with that sky with cotton wool clouds Sandi - It is difficult to compare this with your last image because of the difference in lighting. I would say that both are equally good.

Wonderful scene of this coming-up winter morning. I am also
going to use the RAW mode instead of JPEG. Mac

I agree with Raj that it is hard to compare because of the difference in the lighting. Both are good shots Tigz.

Sandi, I know by own experience that it's pretty hard to achieve the optimal result from a NEF-format image (= the Nikon Raw format), but see that you are making a very good progess. Do what I did my friend: never give up and those optimal results will be there, sooner than you're expecting now.
Love this post anyhow, as it's a very good one to me.

It looks to me that you are getting that Nikon Dialed in. OM me for what we discussed.....My email address was sent to you. Beautiful work and great detail in this. Maybe a tad darker on the exposure or adjusting the WB a touch. Either way, it looks great.

I agree with the exposure tip and set the white balance to shade. You can pick up some nice colors by doing this.
Still a beauty of a shot

I always use Manual Mode / RAW (NEF) on my Nikon. Seems to work the best for me. The lighting is gorgeous in this morning scene. Excellent capture Sandi.

Sandi, my eye does not pick up a difference. But what you are asking that makes think, would Van Gogh also pose the question which do you like better, the starry one of the one with the church? You are a master with both cameras.

In order to compare two different cameras, it should be the same motives, and at the same time. Color reproduction varies in different camera manufacturers, it's like a sign.
But in all cases a very good picture Sandi.
