A seagull taking on air over Lake Erie. I spent some wonderful time today in the Port Clinton, Ohio area. This was taken as I was standing on the beach.
It was kind of breezy but this is a hand held shot with the Canon 70-300 IS USM lens. I cropped it a little bit.
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Given the highlights on the gull's wings (top of) I would not expect to see a sky this blue a colour. Paler would work better to my eyes and in my humble opinion.
Going to have to forgive me here, Tigs ... with such a deep blue or deeper blue ... the bird appears to be more of a cutout than a natural part of the sky.
If, however, you were going for something a tad more abstract in presentation ... perhaps, the sky fits the bill then.
Let's see what others have to say ...
p.s. I can appreciate the difficulty in your capture here. As I did read your accompanying narrative. So, def kudos on the note of distance and wind. :o)
