Finally I'm starting to see butterflies, and this one was spotted outside my window, and was very active. Finally it took a breather, and landed in a shady spot, and I was able to get a shot.

Not the best but I braved the oppressive heat to capture him with the lens. :)

Used my old canon 450D with the canon 70-200mm lens with the Kenko DGX 1x4 converter.

Thank you for your comments.

Sandi, I was impressed but got fear as well, because I was viewing this 'tiny' one at full screen size. Think because it's beautiful, it will prevent me from getting a nightmare, LOL!!!

You've achieved an optimal result in these conditions. Well done.

Regards, Cornelius.

I can smell the sunlight on your skin. Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make!

I like the way this one takes up the whole frame. It make it look like a monster of a butterfly. Very pretty shot, and well done, Sandi.

I know what you mean about the heat, Tigz. Colors are really Bold and Beautiful. For real, not the soap opera variety.

Looks really nice backlit like that. I just saw a few butterflies, but not many.

Hi, Sandi, I've been reading about the heat gripping the U.S. For some reason the weather here in California is unseasonably cool. When I lived in Illinois, the combination of heat and humidity was tough even for a young punk like me. After 10 years in California which is known for low humidity, we decided to visit Disney World in September. My recollection of that visit was that I feared that I would burst into flames if it wasn't for the 90% humidity. We spent most of each day in the Canada building because they had the best air conditioning.

I do like the spotty backlighting in your posting and I want to thank you for actually giving me something to critique in this image. I've had almost nothing to say about your shots since returning to Caedes. I've used my online thesaurus to find words for perfect and fantastic. Perfection is very nice to look at but a little dull to write about.

Luckily for me you've finally posted a less than perfect shot. The focus on the body and wings is sharp except near the swallow tail portion of the wings. Portions of the darker parts of the butterfly are lost in the dark background. I even see some noise near the bottom of the shot.

To sum up my comments, thank you for posting a shot that is less than perfect. It gave me a direction in my ramblings.

Very fine shot Sandi! Pretty butterfly and you caught it just right! I know how hard it is sometimes to catch things that fly. For me it's bees. Thank you! Allen
