I took this one yesterday morning, my first stop for some early morning captures. Then stopped off at shock lake for my "Early Light" and "All Is Calm" images.

Here is some info. on this lake that is not too far from where I live.

lake Wawasee has a long history extending from the Pleistocene epoch, early settlement by the white man, and its growth from the 19th century through today. The lake is named for Miami chief Wawasee (Wau-wuh-see), brother of Miami chief Papakeecha, which translated means "Flat Belly."[1] Lake Wawasee has a history of being a summer vacation area for residents from Indianapolis and Chicago. The Spink's Hotel (now condominiums) overlooking Lake Wawasee was a luxury hotel that hosted famous vacationers including Al Capone. Eli Lilly maintained residence on Lake Wawasee that still today is a landmark on the lake. It is also the largest natural lake within the Indiana boundry.

Thanks for the comments, they are always appreciated.

Nice shot, Sandi.

First impressions were on the notes of the extreme offsetting of the sun. Viewed full screen, seems to work in adding some additional depth, and underscoring an angular/receding perspective.

Caveats?

A post processing/editing suggestion.

This..

"Using the Photoshop Curves Tool" ... courtesy of CambridgeinColour.com.

To the point, about two-thirds of the way down the above linked page, is the suggestion of how to 'shape' the Curves curve ... to mitigate clipped highlights. In particular, the transition of and related to.

... ...

Whaaaa? No coffee?

Thought since you were up so early, that is the least you could do while out shooting and I was still snug as a bug in a rug clocking some more zzzZZZs.

Just think.. how nice it would be to wake up to a good good cup of fresh coffee?

... ...

(*is wearing coffee now*)

Erhm, thanks?

:oP

Coffee aside, but of course.. thanks for sharing this one with us. :o)

Well, Tigs, I'm not sure how I can follow Les. I feel like a comedian following Chris Rock or a magician following Moses' parting of the Red Sea. I also tend to feel like I speak a different version of English.

Caveats?

To me the land mass on the right is a perfect counterbalance to the sun offset to the left. I wish I had some clouds around here. I was up at 5:45 and down at the lake with my trusty assistant Ollie. Not a cloud in the sky. If you don't mind, I'm going to steal this sky and drop it into all of my shots. The thing I like best about this shot is that it runs the spectrum of colors from the very bold to the subdued.

Love the colors in this sunrise scene. At first I wasn't too sure about the rising sun being offset to the far left ... but agree with Les it gives a nice balence with the landscape to the far right. Also gives a great perspective on the size of Lake Wawasee. Very well done, Sandi.

Your sunrises are always so beautiful Sandi and this one is no exception. A bright red in the centre gradually turning to the pale blue of the sky!

Like the offset sun for the great perspective it gives to the lake - lovely colors also.

So beautiful! I love how you have composed this as it seems like you have captured the whole sky and also made it look like time has passed between the far left of the photo and the far right as it fades into darkness. Lovely :D

I'm intrigued by the position of the sun in this, so far to the left hand side. To me it broadens the scope of the image, as you could envision a similar expanse of sky off screen to the left.
