Another capture of the Monarch, using the canon 70-300 IS USM lens, hand held. I do have a tripod, but it is not always easy to use in this kind of capture, I also have a monopod, but I prefer to hand hold the camera, I like the freedom of movement. and I guess I just don't like lugging monopods, or tripods around, I do carry them in the car, but that is about it. :)

Thank you for commenting, and I hope your not too bored yet with these, I'll post something different for friday.

Me? Bored? Come on. You know better than that. Even if I were bored, Tigs, and I'm not, I'm not the sort that would complain about it. As far as I'm concerned every day should be foofy Friday or at least butterfly and foofy Friday aka foofybutt Friday.

As always this is a flawless posting. When you can count the hairs on the back of a monarch, you know you have a sharply focused shot.

If they are in the car, Sandi! lol My tripod has a bum leg or I'd take him more places. A very fine shot of the monarch.

I have to disagree with Skitz, Tigz. Unless my eyes are going bad, which is entirely possible, it doesn't looks as sharply focused as your others in the series.
The composition is really good as usual.

I see a softer focus on the bottom of the flower and the tip of the butterfly's wing. But it's quite nice anyway.

perfect details, a beauty for sure. i laughed when i read your tripod comment, anyone that knows me will know im the same... either that or i take the monopod to a wedding and leave it there and have to trail all the way back at some point to pick it up. for your amusement i did trek all the way to the beach 2 nights ago to do some long exposure stuff, and realised , after id got the kids, the dog, the camera etc there, that the metal bit that clips into the tripod head was on my bosses' camera from shooting a wedding at the weekend! grrrrrrrrrrrr! so no shots for me!

Absolutely not boring! Another great capture, Sandi. I'm with you by the use of 70-300 long lens handhold. With moving targets neigter tripods nor monopods can be useful like free moving handhold shots.
