On my way out of town yesterday, I stopped at the local lake in town, and was able to get a few shots taken.

I used Adobe Elements 8, and this has been layered, along with some other editing. I used a ND filter on my sigma 17-70 lens as well. I tried cropping this one, but liked it better this way.

I spotted some buckeye butterflies, and monarchs yesterday, on my journey south of here, so I'm off to the calendar gardens just a tad north of here, to see if they are still there.

Thank you for your comments.

A beautiful scene with the ducks and the autumn colors in the background Tigz. A lot of sky and water but you pulled it off beautifully.
Good post.

Lots of great Fall color on the edge of this beautiful lake. Would you have cropped had the ducks not been in the shot? Just wondered. I think the ducks are a wonderful element here.

While it's a pretty scene to view, the photographic balance minimizes the potential in the subject material.
Cropping 2/3rds of the sky and in from the left border to between the last two ducks focuses attention on the actual subjects.

That line of trees is showing off the fall colors nicely already, Sandi. I like the Canada Geese out on the beautiful water. Excellent shot, and I think you made the right decision about not cropping.

A beautifully composed scene Tiggs. Your postwork is outstanding. I am going to have to invest in an ND filter.

First of all, Tigs, there's a woman on Facebook that just posted this shot. There is some definite thievery taking place. Do you want me to talk to a friend of a friend who takes care of such matters?

Secondly, I just finished reading an article on landscapes. According to the article, this shot sucks. Did you know, for example, that the horizon should ALWAYS be in the top or bottom third of the image? On my monitor your horizon 0.3 nautical miles from being right smack dab in the middle.

Thirdly, the article said that the amount of sky should be minimized unless it adds drama to the shot. A clear blue sky doesn't qualify as being dramatic. Clear blue skies are native to California; so I assume you were in town this weekend and didn't stop by. It must have cost you a fortune to fly in the autumn leaved trees.

Anyway, I give this a solid 8. The article gives you a minus 3. Do you want me to talk to the same friend of a friend and have him take care of the author of the article too?

Sandi, seems that the duckies have a long way to go. Suppose they are forgotten that they have wings, lol.

Precious scenery. Captured and edited very well. Great that you have chosen for ignoring the dogma 'Rules of Thirds' in this case. Artistical freedom in 'optima forma'.

Regards, Cornelius.
