Another capture from the seven pillars area of the mississinewa river.

I used the sigma 17-70 lens with a ND filter.

Here is a bit more information about this area for you: Mississinewa Battlefield On Dec. 17, 1812, Lt. Colonel John B. Campbell with 600 mounted troops arrived at this site under orders to destroy the Miami Indian Villages along the Mississinewa River from here to the present site of Peru. The destruction of the village on this site resulted in the loss of the lives of two soldiers and eight Indians. Following the attack here, Campbell's force proceeded two miles down the river and destroyed two more villages before returning here to camp for the night. Shortly before dawn on December 18, a force of Miami Indians attacked Campbell's camp. The two hour battle resulted in 10 soldiers being killed and 48 wounded. Approximately 40 Miami and Delaware Indians gave their lives in the defense of their lands. Having over 100 of his horses killed and fearing a second attack, Campbell ordered his troops to return to Fort Greenville late in the afternoon of the 18th. This action was one of the first ordered by General William Henry Harrison during the War of 1812.

Every year they t have a reenactment of the 1812 battle, I went once, and it's a draws alot of people.

Thank you for the comments.

That looks like a very beautiful area, Sandi. Hard to spell and pronounce, but easy to look at. LOL. Gorgeous shot! I love the colors and the lighting.

The river looks like it belongs in Texas, Tigz. It reminds me of the spot Gus and Pea Eye defended themselves against the Indians.

The fall colors are beautiful The composition is tremendous. I feel like I am walking through the trees to the river.

Lots of brilliant Autumn color in this one, Tigs and those are neat rock formations or is that an old bridge? Usually it's the Civil War buffs who do the reenactments. I don't like war, so I don't need to see it repeated. lol Beautiful Fall image!

Hi, Tigs....

Hey, it's not a shot of a guy with pumpkin butt cheeks, but it'll do in a pinch. This looks like a different perspective of the shot of my cave. Next time at least stop by for some tea.

The colors are dazzling. I like everything about this shot.

Beautiful shot! That cave across the river sure does look inviting. But I can't picture anyone inside having tea. Thanks for sharing this.

Sandi, it was pretty hard for me to pay at nearly the same time sufficient attention to both your excellent Fall image and the very interesting story of the battle in 1812 in this area. But the advantage of a computer is that there's an opportunity to enjoy it later again. Sure I will do.

Regards, Cornelius.
