Not sure what kind of flower this one is, but found it in my files, and the editing was done in picasa 3.

Thank you for the views, and comments.

Sandi - I'd guess, and it is only a guess, that this is a variety of a poppy. It is being rather bashful, so it is hard to tell for sure. What is clear is that you have a very nice posting. Thad

The dark vignetting works well on this one Tigz. I don't know what type of flower it is either, but it will be the Belle of the New Year's Eve Ball.

It does remind one of poppies, but I'd be the last to know for sure. Really colorful and well done.

I think this is some kind of carnation. But it doesn't matter, it's so pretty, nice color. And lovely close up, Sandi.

Does indeed look like a type of carnation. Such a fine capture it is too.

It is a red carnation Sandi. Nice capture and great colour.

I don't think it is a carnation - the center is wrong but it could be a type of poppy as Thad said - whatever the color is most striking. Dianthus also have edges like that and are related to carnation.

It is a beautiful bright and happy flower Sandi.
I picked it as a 'Pink" (Dianthus) at first but the foliage and bud are definitely poppy!
I think it is Papaver orientale ‘Turkenlouis’
:)
It makes a lovely image and the dark vignetting makes it pop. Nice work.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
