The geese are pairing up, and there were several pairs of them, along this stretch.

I used the canon 70-300 IS USM lens-handheld.

A nice shot, Sandi. Because the neck and head extend into the busy background, the background becomes too dominant. Cropping off half of it, from the top border to the bird's head will give the neck and head better prominence and balance.
