Another posting taken at EFRC.
They try to have different items in their enclosures to occupy them, cats of any size, do have their playful moments.
Our guide told us about the time that they had a class of children take the tour: They had a couple of adults with them.
Before you even start the tour, they explain the rules of the tour, the teacher started going up to the enclosures, and putting her hands on the fencing etc. Jan the guide had to get after her in front of the class, and other adults, and made her walk the rest of the tour almost connected to her hip. She also made her tell the class she was sorry for setting a bad example before they even continued the tour. Normally they would just ask them to leave, but because she did not want to totally ruin it for the children, she handled it in that manner.
Just one stupid act could shut this place down, Joe the founder takes this very seriously, and it is his hard work, love of the big cats, and the wonderful people who are willing to give long hard hours of their time (either paid or not) to keep the place running smoothly, they work hard and long hours, and it is out of love of the big cats, and respect for Joe, that they are willing to do this no matter what the weather, the work needs to get done.
I got long winded here, but what a wonderful cause, and I'm so glad that my girlfriend found about this place. I totally respect this wonderful place, and the people behind it.
