I have never seen them do this before, it was hot that day, so wonder if it was a way to cool off?

Birds sometimes have a dust bath, or just let ants crawl all over their bodies, but I think this Dove is just cooling off.

Most of the birds I snapped last week were lying like this because of the heat!...apparently it is the coolness of the earth that is a help to them, also helps spreads the feathers to allow air between!...
