I'm not sure what kind this one is, spotted it at the Calendar gardens the other day. Maybe one of you can give the name of this lovely flutterby.

Used the canon 40D, the canon 70-200mm f 4/L lens, with the kenko 1x4 converter hand held.

I'm trying a new plug-in: I used topaz adjust 5 for my editing.

Thank you for commenting, and I really would like to know what your thoughts are? After working on this one, I think I could have cropped more off the bottom of the flower, but this will have to do for now.

Thank you for commenting, and for any helpful advice.

Sandi - I haven't got a clue as to what kind of butterfly you photographed. I agree that a crop off the bottom, to reduce the dark portion of the echinacea bloom would help an otherwise wonderful capture. Very nice post-photo work with Adjust, an excellent plug-in. Thad

Beautiful clarity. Looks like he's sitting on a pincushion. I don't know what kind he is though, but I once did. I think the name may have something to do with the fact that they resemble tree bark.

I think the new Topaz worked great and you have your usual trademark clarity and detail - I actually like the dark at the bottom of the flower it give it more definition - I might have cropped a little at the top.

Another outstanding capture, the detail is spot on. His wings look like beautiful wrapping paper, such detail and textures, bravo Sandi

I also like the darkness on the bottom and you also did a fine job with the topaz. Outstanding detail as well.
Nicely done, Sandi.

I think its some type of moth myself. But its still is pretty! As far as the picture is considered....I think I'd just tone down the pink of the flower in the background a bit. Its obstructing the beauty of the butterfly. I wouldn't crop a thing! The flower adds more color. Superb capture and work girl!!!

Topaz 5 is good, but you have to take care and don't 'overdo' the treatments

Can't tell you the name, but it's a terrific shot

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Very good! IMO the crop is perfect as is. The background is fine with interesting DOF. Butterfly is crisp and your lens/converter combo is excellent. How do you like the Kenko? I have been pondering the purchase of 1.4 converter for my 200 for some time now.
