Tried to bring out more details with topaz 5 adjust.

Used the canon 40D with the canon 70-200mm f 4/L lens, and kenko DGX 1x4 converter.

Your comments are most appreciated, have I gone over the top with the editing? Yay or nay?

Thank you!

I am going with a nay . I think the shot and editing is gorgeous. Great tones and I love how the wings are glowing.
Excellent in my book, Sandi.

Lovely job on this, Sandi. As for the detail loss, it's your extreme focal length that's causing it here. The more lens you use, the shallower the depth is, the wider the necessary aperture becomes, and the slower the shutter speed is.
That lens , coupled with the tele-converter is roughly a 450mm lens with the sensors that are in your cameras.
You'd get more depth, faster shutter speeds, and smaller apertures, shooting from the same position without the converter.
Naturally, you'll have a smaller subject in the larger image area, but the subject, when you edit, will enlarge to the size you desire, retaining more detail, and providing faster shutter speed and smaller apertures, while still retaining nice out of focus backgrounds.
